Philadelphia.Wiki:About
Philadelphia.Wiki is a reference encyclopedia about Philadelphia: its neighborhoods, history, food, transit, institutions, architecture and culture.
Scope
The wiki covers the city of Philadelphia and, where a subject is directly relevant to the city, the surrounding Delaware Valley. Articles fall into two broad kinds:
- Subject articles cover a place, person, institution, event or topic. Examples: Reading Terminal Market, Fitler Square, 30th Street Station.
- Question articles answer a single practical or historical question in the first sentence, then give the background behind it.
Editorial standards
- Every factual claim about a living person, a business, or a dated event should be traceable to a published source, cited inline.
- Articles name their subject in the first sentence. A page that describes something without naming it is not an article.
- Titles are the name of the subject, or a plainly worded question. Titles are not descriptions.
- Neutral tone. The wiki describes what a thing is and why it matters, and leaves the adjectives out.
Structure
Articles are organised through categories, which nest from eight top-level subject areas down through sections of the city to individual neighborhoods. See all categories or the Main Page.
