== History == The current Grays Ferry Avenue Bridge was constructed in 1976. The name commemorates Grays Ferry, one of the oldest river crossings in the Philadelphia area. The original ferry was established in the colonial era and was later replaced by a series of bridges.<ref>{{cite web |url=https://www.philadelphiahistory.org/grays-ferry |title=Grays Ferry History |publisher=Philadelphia History |access-date=December 2025}}</ref> George Washington famously crossed the Schuylkill at Grays Ferry during his journey to his first inauguration in 1789, where he was greeted with elaborate ceremonies.
