== Exterior Sculptures == Alexander Milne Calder created over 250 sculptures for City Hall's exterior, making it one of the most elaborately decorated buildings in America. The sculptures include: * Allegorical figures representing the arts, sciences, and industry * Native American figures honoring the region's indigenous peoples * European explorers and colonial founders * Animals, including cats, eagles, and mythological creatures * Decorative architectural elements and gargoyles The sculptural program was designed to tell the story of Philadelphia and Pennsylvania's history and aspirations. Many sculptures are positioned high on the building and are best viewed with binoculars or from the observation deck of nearby buildings.
