Strawberry Mansion Bridge
Strawberry Mansion Bridge is a historic steel arch bridge spanning the Schuylkill River in Fairmount Park, connecting the Strawberry Mansion neighborhood to the western section of the park. Built in 1897, it is one of the oldest surviving bridges in the Philadelphia park system.
History
[edit | edit source]The bridge was constructed in 1897 as part of the expansion of Fairmount Park's infrastructure. It takes its name from the nearby Strawberry Mansion, an 18th-century house that is now a historic site within the park.[1]
The bridge has undergone several rehabilitations to maintain its structural integrity while preserving its historic character.
