Temple University Hospital
Temple University Hospital is a Level I trauma center and academic medical center serving North Philadelphia and the surrounding region. Founded in 1892 as Samaritan Hospital and affiliated with Temple University since 1920, the hospital operates 722 beds and is the flagship hospital of Temple Health. Temple University Hospital is particularly known for its trauma services, lung transplantation program (the busiest in the U.S.), and service to an underserved urban population. The hospital is the primary teaching site for the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University.[1]
